Public Statement on Responsible Research Assessment

Sumerian Scriptum Synthesis Publisher (SSSP) Official Commitment to the Principles of the San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA)

As a publisher dedicated to advancing rigorous, fair, and inclusive scholarly communication, Sumerian Scriptum Synthesis Publisher (SSSP) fully endorses the principles of the San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA).

We recognize the need to improve how the outputs of scientific research are evaluated, particularly regarding the misuse of journal-based metrics such as the Journal Impact Factor. In alignment with DORA, our publishing practices emphasize the intrinsic quality and impact of individual research outputs, rather than relying solely on quantitative metrics.

Our Commitments:
  1. Reject the use of journal-based metrics (e.g., Journal Impact Factor) as a surrogate measure of the quality of individual research articles.
  2. Adopt transparent peer review processes, recognizing the diverse contributions of authors, editors, and reviewers.
  3. Encourage the use of ORCID iDs to uniquely identify authors and contributors.
  4. Provide article-level metrics where possible, including citation counts and alternative metrics (altimetric).
  5. Require and promote open data practices in accordance with FAIR principles.
  6. Support diversity, equity, and inclusion in publishing, authorship, and peer review.
  7. Acknowledge the full range of scholarly contributions, including data sets, software, negative results, replication studies, and methodological advances.
Implementation Status:

These commitments are currently being integrated into our editorial policies, author guidelines, and peer-review workflows across all journals published under our name. We continue to update our practices and train editorial teams to align with global standards in responsible research assessment.

By signing DORA, we reaffirm our dedication to integrity, transparency, and excellence in scholarly publishing.
